A SUSIE BARBER FINISHING SCHOOL EXPERIENCE

THE MODERN YOUNG LADY

Confidence • Character • Modern Life Skills

A contemporary programme for young ladies aged 13-17 who are ready to strengthen confidence, communication, and self-respect. The Modern Young Lady provides practical tools to navigate social situations with ease and authenticity.

More than manners

The Modern Young Lady is not about changing a girl into someone else. It is about helping her recognise what is already valuable within her and giving her practical tools to communicate, present herself and make thoughtful choices with greater confidence. The programme combines timeless standards with the realities of modern teenage life.

1) Confidence and self-esteem

Understanding personal value, quiet confidence, positive self-talk and how to recover composure in unfamiliar situations.

3) Modern etiquette and digital manners

Consideration in person and online, mobile-phone awareness, messaging tone, social-media judgement and protecting one’s dignity in digital spaces.

5) Personal presentation and style

Grooming, clothing choices, occasion awareness and developing an individual style that feels appropriate, confident and authentic.

2) Conversation and communication

Introductions, eye contact, listening, conversation skills, respectful disagreement and finding the right words when a moment feels difficult.

4) Posture, deportment and presence

How posture, movement, facial expression and attention influence the way a young woman feels and is received.

6) Boundaries and future readiness

Self-respect, healthy boundaries, interview confidence, professional first impressions and preparing for greater independence.

Who it is for

The programme is designed for young ladies aged 13-17. It suits confident girls who want to refine their skills, quieter girls who would benefit from greater social ease, and young women preparing for new responsibilities, interviews, leadership, study, work and adult life.

A note for parents and guardians

Every part of the programme is taught with warmth, discretion and respect. The focus is not perfection, appearance or social status. It is confidence, character, self-respect, communication and the ability to make other people feel at ease.

She leaves with practical confidence.

Each participant leaves with language she can use, habits she can practise, a clearer understanding of her own worth and a formal Certificate of Completion recognising her participation.
